History Lessons in Catholic Holy Cards

Have you ever wondered why Catholic's have holy cards?
Did they play Poker with them? Crazy Saints? Old Saint? Go Saint?
I used to imagine has a child these scenario's in heaven.
Did God have this big pile of holy cards he would play with Mary and Jesus? I would giggle in childlike wonder. Now in my OLDER years I realize they are  devotions, keepsakes to remind us of their love and sacrifice to God.
However something took place in our society to publish a certain holy card. Of course the obvious is the Canonization or Beatification of a new Saint. But doesn't this represent a time in our development has a Catholic and a historical marker in our history has a society? So holy cards are very important in this fact. In conclusion, sell me Grannys holy cards.

Here are a few I have collected and sold over the last few years.

Two Rare Saint Theresa postcards 1920 for her Canonization celebration

Rare French Joan of Arc 1890's

French Lithograph Station of the Cross Art Nouveau period.
I make these folk art devotions as my work from God to pass on his love for you and your family. Each one is sealed and treated with

Archival and Conservation techniques

If you would like I can include more historial materials about each card to you. Let me know.

Day 5 - St. Therese Novena

Continue to look for Roses during your day as we pray day 5 of our novena.
Day 5 - St. Therese Novena
Dearest Saint Therese of Lisieux, you said that you would spend your time in heaven doing good on earth.

Your trust in God was complet...e. Pray that He may increase my trust in His goodness and mercy as I ask for the following petitions…

(State your intentions)

Pray for me that I, like you, may have great and innocent confidence in the loving promises of our God. Pray that I may live my life in union with God’s plan for me, and one day see the Face of God whom you loved so deeply.

Saint Therese, you were faithful to God up until the moment of your death. Pray for me that I may be faithful to our loving God. May my life bring peace and love to the world through faithful endurance in love for God our savior.

Loving God, You gave St. Therese the gift of forgiving others even when she felt hurt and betrayed. Help me to be able to forgive others who have wounded me, especially…

I try to forgive, Lord. Help me to forgive 70 times 7 times!
I am humble, Lord. Give me more humility!
I see you, Lord. Help me to see you more!
I trust you, Lord. Help me to trust you more!
I love you, Lord. Help me to love you more!

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Antique Religious Postcards Saint Therese and her History.

Have you ever prayed for the soul of a murderer?
Not a topic you would expect is it? I'm not sure I would. For some reason this touched the heart of Saint Therese.
She prayed for weeks for the soul and conversion of this man who preformed a triple murder in Paris, France 1887.
It was so grisly it made international news for weeks during the investigation. Her prayers day and night made the news!
I came across this postcard of Saint Therese praying at her bedside. I got very curious because of the illustrations on the postcard. If you look above you can see God and Jesus with a lightening bolt. The next illustration on the right shows the criminal kissing the cross. I had no idea what this was about until I translated the inscription. After doing some research I came across this article from the news in 1887. http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=TAN18871022.2.34
The man Pranzini was guillotined , struggling the entire time.
Little Flower was only 14 years old at the time. You never know what you might find in a pile of old postcards.

More of my collection of Saint Therese

I haven't researched this one yet! I wondering what War this is? If you have clues, leave me a comment.
